
If restaurant marketing has an effect on a city’s eating habits, then Jared Golden and Michelle Williams (pictured at The Hard Shell in 2003) have set a standard with their neighborhood holdings: The Hill CafĂ©, Europa, Michelle’s at Hanover Tavern and the new deLux in the Fan. Their quest has gotten more sophisticated and competitive with experience, and with that influence other owners are paying attention — if not for the menus, at least for the packaging and design and forward-thinking business plan that attracts the right clientele.
