If Richmond is becoming one of the most tattooed cities in America — Mayor Dwight Jones has even touted the growing tat industry as tourist attraction — the city couldn't have a better ambassador than Amy Black. She gives speeches at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and her artwork has found a medical purpose, too. She now specializes in nipple and areola re-pigmentation for women who've had mastectomies. So we've accepted this. We are a city that embraces the artistic qualities of tattoos, which led to an exhibit at the Valentine Richmond History Center. Thea Duskin works out of Ghostprint Gallery, and Jesse Smith, of Loose Screw Tattoo in Carytown, appeared on Spike TV's reality competition show "Ink Master" last year.
