Best Restaurant Beer List

Readers' Pick

First Place: Mekong

6004 W. Broad St.

Second Place: Capital Ale House

Third Place: Sedona Taphouse

It might be unusual for a Vietnamese restaurant to have one of the city's best beer lists, but Mekong has carved out a serious reputation for brews and for beer-loving customers. Under the savvy leadership of An Bui, Mekong has been named best beer bar in the nation by a craft beer website, among other awards. Beer events, tastings, home-brewer meet-ups and happy hours give fans ample reasons to enjoy a draft with a noodle dish or spring roll. Regulars like what beer does for karaoke, too, so that's another draw. Big and getting bigger, Capital Ale House has five locations, with three across Richmond, and a gargantuan beer menu that changes frequently. Cask-conditioned real ales, as many as 80 taps and 250 bottles, give aficionados endless opportunities to sample and savor a brew and a burger. Another growing franchise is Midlothian's Sedona Taphouse, offering a contemporary destination for drafts and 500 crafts and food that enhances their flavors. A new location in Charlottesville is almost open, extending the brand's reach and showing its ambition to please.
