The Smithereens wsg vocalist John Cowsill

November 8, 2025 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$65

For 45 years, the Smithereens have been creating catchy, crunchy rock ’n’ roll and electrifying audiences with high-energy shows that feature rock radio staples such as “Blood and Roses,” “A Girl Like You,” “The House We Used to Live In” and so many more. On DATE, they’ll bring their tour to VENUE beginning at TIME.

Jim Babjak (guitar) Dennis Diken (drums) and Mike Mesaros (bass) have formed the nucleus of the band since its founding in New Jersey in 1980. Together, they’ve headlined all over the world and shared bills with Tom Petty, The Pretenders, Lou Reed and the Ramones, among many others. They’ve recorded nearly 20 albums, played more than 2,500 shows and had their music featured in movies such as Backdraft, Bull Durham and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.

Since 2017, after original lead singer Pat DiNizio died, the Smithereens have kept the rock rolling with Marshall Crenshaw and Robin Wilson of the Gin Blossoms taking turns handling the vocal duties. In 202X, the group recruited John Cowsill of the Cowsills to serve as an occasional frontman.

The Smithereens were inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame Class of 2018 in the “Performing Arts” category. Previously, Babjak and Diken were inducted into the White Castle Hall of Fame for The Smithereens’ rendition of the Jim Babjak/Bob Banta composition “White Castle Blues.”
