Restore the Wild Artwork Exhibition Reception

March 6 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Free

This is the sixth year of the DWR Restore the Wild Artwork Competition, and it’s marked with record participation including nearly 250 pieces submitted from across the Commonwealth as well as several other states. With this record-breaking year in mind, the opening night reception will also be bigger than ever, featuring a presentation of awards, ambassador animals from Bat Conservation and Rescue of Virginia, a silent auction, and exclusive merchandise for sale featuring graphics designed by tattoo artist Nate Moretti. This year there is also a new judging category, People’s Choice. Visitors will have an opportunity to cast a vote for their favorite piece any time during the exhibition. The 2026 Exhibition features work depicting the Rafinesque’s big-eared bat, a state-designated endangered species that lives in Virginia’s Coastal Plain. As its name suggests, this bat has enormous ears and large, protruding facial glands that give them an oddly charming face. It is a medium-sized bat that roosts in hollow trees and abandoned buildings. The exhibition will continue at Main Street Station through Sunday, March 29, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., daily.
