Poetry 101 with Richmond Young Writers [ages 12-15]

Poetry 101 is a fun and approachable 4-week class designed to introduce teens to the world of poetry. Each week, students will explore a different poetic form or theme—like haiku, free verse, spoken word, and metaphor—through reading, discussion, and writing. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to play with words. By the end of the course, students will have a small portfolio of original poems and a deeper appreciation for the power of poetic expression.
