DjangoFest RVA – Hot Club of Baltimore and Django Tango at Reveler
An exhilarating evening of romantic acoustic swing jazz guitar featuring two superb ensembles paying tribute to the legendary gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. Returning to Reveler in Carytown, renowned guitarist Michael Joseph Harris and his Django Reinhardt inspired group Hot Club of Baltimore. Experience a wide range of music including traditional Romani jazz, virtuosic French waltzes, burnin’ be-bop tunes, and sublime romantic melodies. The ensemble includes Joe Bussey (bass), Connor Holdridge (rhythm guitar), and Dallas Vietty (accordion).
Opening the show is Django Tango, Richmond’s premier gypsy jazz ensemble formed by Russ Hanchin to celebrate the music of legendary French guitarist Django Reinhardt and the Quintette du Hot Club de France. Join us for a memorable evening of swing and latin rhythms and infectious music that will inspire you to move. The group includes Allen Burris (clarinet/sax), Freddy Lau (guitar), James Carrington Beard (guitar) and Carter Blough (acoustic bass).
