Lewis Ginter continues its Groovin’ in the Garden summer concert series with the upbeat bluegrass of Yonder Mountain String Band. Influenced by bluegrass greats such as Del McCoury, the Johnson Mountain Boys and the Osborne Brothers, as well as the punk rock of Bad Religion, Black Flag and the Dead Kennedys, Yonder Mountain String Band blends bluegrass, rock and countless other sounds to make a style that’s distinctly its own. Still riding the success of 2009’s “The Show,” the band is a regular at bluegrass festivals such as the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and the Northwest String Summit, as well as massive events such as Austin City Limits Festival and Bonnaroo. The band is working on its forthcoming studio album due out in 2013. Yonder Mountain String Band plays at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden on Thursday, May 24, at 6 p.m. $25-$30. groovininthegarden.net.
