Year of the Dragon and Blackout Shift at Bandito’s Burrito Lounge

Sunday, April 19

With a bit of funk, metal and punk, the band Year of the Dragon is Los Angeles to the core of its user-friendly being. Founding member “Dirty” Walter A. Kibby II helped popularize the recipe with L.A. ska-punk funksters Fishbone in the ’80s. Year of the Dragon is more late-period Bad Brains and Living Color in its hyperactivity than Fishbone, but born of the same uplift mofo party plan that made the Red Hot Chili Peppers bankable commodities. The group brings its colorblind afterparties at ground-zero sound to Bandito’s Burrito Lounge on Sunday, April 19. Local hard rockers Blackout Shift open. Doors open at 9 p.m. Free. banditosburritolounge.com.
