According to Oscar Wilde, a writer is someone who’s taught his mind to misbehave. If that’s true, Richmond author and playwright V. Mark Covington must be full of disobedience. The author of five novels and the play “Shakespeare in the Trailer Park” premieres his debut musical comedy, “Writers’ Weekend,” on Sunday at Richmond Triangle Players. The story involves a group of aspiring wordsmiths from different genres who meet during a literary retreat. The songs feature lyrics by Rebecca Elizabeth Jones and original music by Paul R. Bartsch, with the marriage of words and melody poking lighthearted fun at the scribblers and their process of dedicating thoughts to paper. Doors open at 8 p.m. for the belletristic battle of conflicting wits, produced and directed Billy Christopher Maupin. Admission is $10. rtriangle.org.
