Would White Church Get Better Treatment?

How much more money is Chesterfield County going to throw away on the so-called redevelopment of Cloverleaf Mall when it has a solid and sound offer from Pastor Parson (“Cloverleaf’s Redo May Cost Millions More,” Street Talk, Jan. 24)?

Pastor Parson has everything in place, including financing, to begin right away. Yet county officials seem determined to keep him out of the mix and spend even more tax money on this project. Why not let the people of Chesterfield decide? Let’s have a referendum on whether or not Pastor Parson’s offer should be accepted or rejected.

As a resident of Chesterfield County, I am tired of having the board of supervisors making decisions that the residents of the county clearly reject. Also, I wonder how different the process would have gone if Pastor Parson’s church was large, rich and white. Just food for thought.
