When entertaining, most hosts tidy up the house, maybe put out some snacks and of course open themselves to cordial conversation. In Edward Albee's Tony Award-winning play “Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” George and Martha do none of these things for their young guests, Nick and Honey, choosing instead to make them a bewildered audience to a night of heavy drinking and verbal sparring. An extremely well-written stage work that shatters the illusion of long-lasting marital bliss and addresses how quickly love can turn to resentment and hate, “Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” opens the season of the Firehouse Theater on Sept. 9, continuing through Oct. 2. $10-$25.
