Where to Watch the Olympics in Richmond

Sports bars such as Gus’ Bar & Grill and Home Team Grill will feature the games heavily. As will Penny Lane Pub, though probably with less gusto than when the games were held in London.

At the Sports Center of Richmond you can alternate between watching Olympic athletes on television and decidedly un-Olympic athletes playing soccer at the bar. Sweaty players and buckets of beer will add to the experience.

The Richmond Roadrunners Club and the River City Magnolias will hold watch parties of track and field and synchronized swimming events, respectively. No word on whether Jumpology will hold a viewing party of the Olympic Trampoline event.

Family-owned Cantinho do Brasil will play the games next to its steak buffet. It has a Brazilian channel, too, so you might be watching in Portuguese. But alcohol isn’t served, so if you want that, you’ll have to go to the chain version, Texas de Brazil, in Short Pump.

The caipirinha is Brazil’s national cocktail of cachaça, similar to rum, limes and sugar. Casa del Barco serves a delicious one and will have the games on large screens. You can get Saison’s version of the drink from one of its mixologists in the casual market side, where they’ll show the Olympics.
