What to Look Forward to at the 2017 Richmond International Film Festival

The Richmond International Film Festival features more than 150 films from 35 countries to be screened from Feb. 27-March 5.

Also this year, music showcases and panels will unfold at various venues — the Camel, Strange Matter, the Broadberry and Sound of Music — featuring 15 local acts and 35 visiting bands. Visit rvafilmfestival.com for a complete list and ticket information.

Monday, Feb. 27: Opening night music event with Trap Music Orchestra and Wytold at Sound of Music. 8 p.m. $12.

Thursday, March 2: French actress Irene Jacob (from Krzysztof Kieslowski’s “Double Life of Veronique”) presents her film, “Tales of Mexico” at the Byrd at 6:15 p.m. Then at 9, she and her brother Francis Jacob perform music at the Hofheimer Building. $8-$10.

Friday, March 3: “When War Comes Home” a documentary by filmmaker Michael King at BowTie Criterion. 5 p.m. Workshop: $15.

Saturday, March 4: “Psychos,” a story of two psycho-billy fans from Russia who consider themselves fascists. Screens at 2 p.m. at BowTie Criterion. Directed by Alexey Kitaytsev. $8-$10.

Sunday, March 5: “Goodbye Garbers” documentary with filmmaker Allison Apperson.
