After the tragedy this week at Virginia Tech, Kroger is assisting those in need. “We want to express our support to the University. By making a corporate match of contributions and setting up a donation program at our registers that will give our customers and Kroger associates a means to contribute, we believe we can help,” said Pete Williams, President.
Customers may donate at cash registers or drop coins into specially marked boxes when checking out in all stores starting April 22 through May 19. All proceeds will go to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund established by the University to remember and honor victims.
The fund will be used to cover expenses including, but not limited to:
-Assistance to victims and their families
-Grief counseling
-Memorials
-Communication expenses
-Comfort expenses
