Vetiver at the Camel

Finding support early on from fellow San Francisco artists Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom, Vetiver frontman Andy Cabic has developed a respectable catalog of mellow folk rock, the kind of amiably shuffling songs kissed ever so gently with the touches of country pedal steel and psychedelic haze. Airy and low-key, the band's melodies regularly conjure visions of a campfire in a canyon. Playing tunes off its 2009 record, “Tight Knit,” and quite possibly a bit of new material from a recent stint of studio recording sessions, Vetiver is scheduled to perform at the Camel on Saturday, March 12, at 7 p.m. $10-$12. 353-4901. — Mike Hilleary
