Richmond’s urban music concert series returns to Kanawha Plaza with the usual suspects and a few surprises. Along with repeat customers like Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton and Chuck Brown, rapper Nas is scheduled to make a rare Richmond appearance June 27. Yolanda Adams will bring seldom heard gospel sounds to the plaza July 18.
Other notable appearances include Ledisi, an opener at the festival last year, who returns as a Grammy-nominated headliner, Chrisette Michele and Raheem DeVaughn who provide a double dose of new soul on June 13, and R&B legend Teena Marie who appears on Aug. 22. The music starts May 30 with former Fugee Wyclef Jean.
