The Byrd Theatre, an 82-year-old state and national historic landmark, has served as a Carytown anchor and a source of entertainment for countless Richmonders of all ages. Now it needs help during a time of economic hardship and efforts to launch a renovation campaign.

Here's one thing you can do: See a movie.

You may have read in these pages about “Rock 'N' Roll Hotel,” which our cover story last week billed as “The Best Worst Movie You've Never Seen.” Much of it was filmed at the Jefferson Hotel in 1982, and was seen by only a handful of people until writer Dale Brumfield recently discovered its existence, and a former set designer discovered a copy in a closet in Culver City, Calif.

Style Weekly has acquired the rights to hold a special Richmond premiere of the movie on Monday, Aug. 30, at 8 p.m., as a fundraiser for the Byrd through the Byrd Theatre Foundation.
