After spending the past decade playing well with others, first as part of D.C. stalwarts Q and Not U, and later on as half the guy-girl duo Georgie James, singer and songwriter John Davis had finally decided to tackle his own brand of melodic indie rock under the name Title Tracks. With tunes inspired by the upbeat power pop acts of the 1970s such as Elvis Costello, Davis' sunny catchiness is set to be unveiled with Title Track's recently released debut, “It Was Easy,” which hit store shelves in February. While playing every single part on the album (aside from a few guest vocal spots by Tracyanne Campbell of Camera Obscura), Davis is playing with his backing band at Gallery5 on Tuesday, March 2, at 7 p.m. 644-0005.
