The Virginia Wine Expo takes over the Richmond Convention Center and venues across the city for a three-day bonanza to celebrate the commonwealth’s native fermented grapes. Starting Friday, Feb. 21, there will more than 450 wines to sample, made by winemakers from all over the state, as well as a bounty of wine-themed meals, socials and excursions. That includes the Best of Virginia & France Premiere, presented by Style Weekly on Friday from 7-10 p.m., “comparing Old World style wines from France with the New World wines of Virginia.” Ooh-la-la. The expo’s charitable beneficiary is the Central Virginia affiliate of Susan G. Komen. So while you sample a myriad of indigenous wines, you can raise your glass to the fight against breast cancer.
