One of the reasons people go out to hear live music is because they might get laid. That’s the allure of music. More people have gotten laid at concerts than all the world’s art openings, poetry readings and theater performances combined. That’s why Richmond bands Houdan the Mystic, Basmati, Rohlk and Reason, and Charlotte, N.C., trio Chasing Pedestrians are playing the Richmond Reproductive Freedom Project benefit: When you get lucky at a concert, you want to be able to legally circumvent the unintended consequences that can come from a night of coitus. Protecting a women’s right to choose what goes in or out of her body is contingent on keeping the sexual allure of music alive. And this varied collection of contemporary sound generators takes the rights of women seriously. You should too. The benefit concert is Friday, March 28, at Strange Matter. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $7. strangematterrva.com.
