I like little things. And if those little things are intensely crafted to the point of obsession, my heart gets all aflutter. And that’s what the Millennium Metal Show II and Mixed Media 2013 is all about — obsessive detail. The group show of 3-D miniature sculptures, graphics and jewelry is a collection of finely crafted, minute structures and designs that reveal the true nature of their metal-smithing charms only under close inspection. That’s what bonds the various works of artists Susie Ganch, Arthur Hash, C. James Meyer, Robert Ebendorf, John T. Crutchfield, Donna D’Aquino, Rebecca Holt and Brittany Arnold — the fastidious celebration of the minuscule. In a world that wants things bigger and better, this show is a timely reminder that it’s the little things that sometimes matter most. The Millennium Metal Show II and Mixed Media 2013 open Friday, Dec. 6, from 5-10 p.m., at the Artemis Gallery. artemisgalleryrichmond.com.
