The Love Language's Stuart McLamb is a survivor of his own self-destruction. Living a lifestyle of damaging romance, excessive inebriation and occasional incarceration, the young singer and songwriter found redemption writing songs. With McLamb recording everything himself on a cheap multitrack recorder, the Love Language's self-titled debut saw the light of day in early 2009. Featuring nine songs of gorgeous lo-fi indie pop bled in Walkman-inspired reverb and fuzz, there's energy to the artist's hook-laden sound that more than compensates for his lack of engineering skills. Recently signed with Merge Records, and releasing an equally engaging follow-up record, “Libraries,” this July, the Love Language opens for indie stalwart Camera Obscura at the National on Saturday, June 5, at 8 p.m. $15-$18.
