Unlike most local acts in Richmond, which tend to lean more toward the genre extremes of hard-core metal or folk music, it's nice to find a band such as the Lost Satellites willing to embrace the influence of say, the Doors and Rolling Stones instead of Metallica and NOFX. Formed in Petersburg, the quad extends roots into Richmond through its melodic acoustics and keyboard drones steering. With a sort of Jarvis Cocker's “Pulp,” songs such as “Moment of Clarity” tend to merge soundscapes with great harmonics. At the Triple on Friday, Jan. 9, at 10 p.m. $7-$10. 359-7777. — Alexander Chang
