I love when people are amazed that women play music. New? Revolutionary? Like homosexuality, women playing music is as old as time. And like male-made melodies, some of it’s good and some of it sucks. Of course it should be judged by the content of its character and not by what’s between the musician’s legs. The Canal Club presents Women Who Rock on Friday, April 25, featuring performances by female-led Richmond bands the Killing Daylights, Downbeat Switch, Vexine and the Voodoo Dolls. All you really need to know is that each band is worth hearing because each finds new and interesting ways to reinvent the rock wheel. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $8 in advance and $10 at the day of. thecanalclub.com.
