The Fighting Jamesons and Born Crooked at the National

Tuesday, March 17

If you want to get your groove on for St. Patrick’s Day, the Fighting Jamesons are here for you. Drawing obvious inspiration from the legendary Pogues, this Virginia Beach sextet hits like a big shot of whiskey with its jacked-up, pub-rock-inspired take on the melodies of Ireland. The group’s 2014 release, “Every Day Above Ground,” is an adrenaline-charged party starter. Listening to it is like driving a car without brakes, with the group’s blitzkrieg barrage of banjos, accordions and fiddles careening just short of annihilation. For those with a need for speed, the group imparts a fevered bliss that shouldn’t be missed. The Fighting Jamesons pump it up Tuesday, March 17, at the National with an opening by Orange County rock duo Born Crooked. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $12.50.
