Years before Patrick Swayze was using it to lure impressionable women to the Kellerman's resort in the Catskill Mountains, the Contours' “Do You Love Me?” was more widely known for helping put Motown music into greater public consciousness. Originally written for the Temptations, who had difficulty capturing the tune's rowdier energy, the song fit perfectly with the Contours' impressible stage antics, which consisted of sliding across the stage and doing the splits. Under the leadership of original member Sylvester Potts, the Contours join the Richmond Symphony's Genworth Financial Symphony Pops to celebrate 50 Years of Motown, at Richmond CenterStage at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22. $17-$77.
