Since Gallery5 opened as a gallery and performance space in 2005, burlesque has been an integral part of its artistic DNA. The “Art of Tease” exhibit, opening Friday, Feb. 7, celebrates burlesque with displays of costumes and props used by dancers who have performed in the converted firehouse. Along with all the titillating artifacts, the show includes a video installation and the painted photography of Todd Raviotta, performance sketches by Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School RVA, photographs by Lauren Lyon (pictured) and Dave Parrish, and posters from shows at the gallery. Infamous local party starter Parker S. Galore VIII plays host at the opening, which includes routines by dancers Deanna Danger, Melody Magpie, Moxie LaBouche, Dante the Inferno and others, as well as a market of locally made items, raffles and surprises. The onslaught of eye candy begins at 7 p.m. Free. The exhibit runs until Feb. 28. gallery5arts.org.
