While they may not have gained the same kind of mainstream success as stage mates Linkin Park or Queens of the Stone Age, the nu metal rockers of Taproot have certainly spent the past several years under an umbrella of healthy accomplishment, landing significant record sales on the Billboard 200. Leaving its days with major label Atlantic Records behind, the band independently released its latest album, “Our Long Road Home,” in September, graduating as headliners on the road. Taproot performs with the likes of Soul's Harbor, Dear Enemy and Saint Diablo at Toad's Place on Friday, Jan. 9, at 8 p.m. $10-$12. 648-8623. — Mike Hilleary
