The 11th annual Richmond Bluegrass Festival at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery on Saturday, Oct. 15
Nothing like listenin’ to some pickin’ and grinnin’ while kickin’ it and sippin’! Enjoy some beers in hopefully lovely autumn weather while listening to a bluegrass lineup that includes River City Band at 1:30 p.m.; Sophie Wellington and Friends at 3 p.m.; The Fly Birds at 4:15 p.m.; Furnace Mountain at 5:30 p.m.; The High and Wides at 6:45 p.m. and The Hot Seats at 8 p.m. There will be a limited run of the cool poster for this year’s fest by Leslie Herman. W.I.T.C.H. with Paint at Richmond Music Hall on Saturday, Oct. 15
The subject of a popular music documentary, Zambian rock band W.I.T.C.H. (which stands for “We Intend To Cause Havoc”) was formed in the 1970s and revived in 2012 after reissued records by the group became popular with collectors. Just this fall, the band unveiled its first new song since 1984, the percussion-heavy “Waile” (hear below) which is also the first release with co-founder and vocalist Emmanuel “Jagari” Chanda since 1977. Fans of Afrobeat and psychedelic rock will be all over this one. Los Angeles indie rockers Paint (Mexican Summer), featuring the music of Iranian songwriter Pedrum Siadatian from the Allah-Las, play first. Festival of India at the Greater Richmond Convention center on Saturday, Oct. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 16
If you don’t appreciate and love the food, music and culture of India, you are missing out. And if you don’t know much about it, this free festival will give you a little primer, featuring authentic food, dance, jewelry, clothing and music. Craft + Design at Main Street Station, Saturday, Oct. 15 through Sunday, Oct. 16

Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival along Arthur Ashe Blvd, Saturday, Oct. 15
This free annual festival is back on the Boulevard this year, and it always draws plenty of folks to eat, drink and enjoy all things Halloween and autumn. It’s been said that it’s generally best to walk or ride your bike. Live music this year includes: The Embalmers from noon to 2 p.m., a DJ and costume contest from 2 to 4 p.m. and the Totally Random band from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Should be plenty of food and drinks at this one.
