62nd Annual Armenian Food Festival at St. James Armenian Church on Friday, Sept. 9 and Saturday, Sept. 10
At this tasty cultural fest in the West End, enjoy dishes from shish kabobs to stuffed grape leaves and Armenian meat pies, as well as delicious wine and colorful dancing. The Residency: Exhibition Opening at Art180’s Atlas Gallery on Friday, Sept. 9
Come out and support the creativity of eight young, high school artists featured in the Residency. They worked “alongside a professional artist for seven weeks, receiving professional development, mentorship, studio space, materials a financial stipend and the freedom to let their creativity flourish” according to organizers. The 43rd Street Festival of the Arts at 43rd and Forest Hill Ave. on Saturday, Sept.10

The festival benefits the nonprofit Caritas, which “helps our most vulnerable neighbors break the cycles of homelessness and addiciont to reclaim their dignity.” Runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
James River Jamboree at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery (West Creek location) on Saturday, Sept. 10
A day packed with interactive vendors, live music, cold beer and tasty food trucks to benefit the James River Association. Among the musical acts: Danny James, Damian Allen, Django Tango, and Sturgeon City. Food trucks include 1115 Mobile Kitchen, Timber Pizza, El Guapo, Slideways, Westray’s Finest, and Rappahannock Oyster Co. Music starts at 1 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m.
Whitney Cummings’ “Touch Me Tour” at the National, Saturday, Sept. 10
You may have seen her on Netflix working up a sweat during her set with a mixture of intense comedy and impromptu stage squats. This is a rescheduled appearance from the DC-raised, now Los Angeles-based comedian and actress from the NBC series, “Whitney.” $25-$35. 7 p.m.
