There will be 50 plus vendors to help celebrate this month’s First Friday. This is a free, family-friendly community event and all ages and walks of life are welcome. Just don’t leave any trash behind. 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Hardywood Bluegrass Festival at Hardywood Richmond
This free bluegrass festival has been growing in popularity over the years, so expect a healthy crowd. Not only do you get great bluegrass music but also the release of this year’s batch of Gingerbread Stout, one of Hardywood’s most popular seasonal creations, made with baby ginger and wildflower honey from local, family-owned farms. The bands (not in order) include: The Hot Seats, the Alum Ridge Boys and Ashlee, the Mustard Cutters, Code Blue, Big Boss Combo, Tara Mills Band and Devon Flaherty. The fun starts at noon. And like we said, free.
Garden Glow at Maymont
Take our word, Garden Glow is nice this year and steady crowds have been showing up for nightly strolls. One of our favorite stretches was the path leading to the waterfall and Japanese gardens, which includes some lovely colored trees and a laser-filled bend that is psychedelic. Read our preview here. Tickets range from $12 to $16. They do have food trucks and drinks onsite. Located at Carriage House lawn, 1700 Hampton St. Garden Glow runs through Nov. 12. Go here for tickets and more info.
