Stroops Opens Friday the 13th

The much anticipated hot-dog joint from Dutch & Co. is firing up the grill.

Dutch & Co.’s new younger sibling, Stroops, will open Friday, Nov. 13, in Church Hill. It was inspired by the restaurant’s “Back Door Dogs” that it served from, well, its back door on 27th Street every Saturday.

Hot dog flavors rotated, and now with the opening of Stroops — named after the dessert waffle that’s Dutch & Co.’s most popular dessert — you will be able to order anything from an Oaxacan mole dog made from orange-glazed pork belly, squash butter, pepitas, queso fresca and cilantro to a turkporken dog with duck confit stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and mayonnaise from 11 a.m.-6p.m. at 2709 E. Marshall St.

And its namesake, the stroopwafel? Stroops will serve the classic version, an ice-cream sandwich and sell stroopwafel ice cream by the pint.
