Story Stirs Memories

I enjoyed the “Elements of Style” article on the Franklin Street house (Cover Story, Home Style, March 5). I have fond memories of the house my grandfather, Dr. Paul W. Howle, had built. I am a retired banker living in Deltaville, but lived in Richmond until 2001.

As a child I would run up and down on the elevator stopping between floors, to the dismay of the staff and my dad, Paul W. Howle Jr., and mom, Alice Tennant Howle. I do remember the house very well and it is wonderful to see what has been done.

There was hope that my dad would become a doctor; however, he fainted at the sight of blood. There was a surgery suite on the first floor for minor operations and the odd stitch or two. Please feel free to pass along my comments to owner Dave vanBlaricom along with a “well done” from the Howle family.
