Stone Temple Pilots at Innsbrook Pavilion

The harshest of critics typically tend to classify Stone Temple Pilots as a derivative post-grunge act that spent the early ’90s gleaning from the likes of better bands such as Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. But if you listen more closely, it’s clear that the Los Angles-based band had its moments of songwriting brilliance, evident by such undeniably catchy, stadium rock songs as the riff-driven “Plush,” “Interstate Love Love” and “Creep.” With frontman Scott Weiland spending most of his time between albums in a revolving door of drug addiction, rehabilitation, relapse — even forming the short-lived super-group Velvet Revolver with Guns and Roses guitarist Slash — the band eventually embarked on a successful reunion tour back in 2008, with a new self-titled sixth album released in 2010. The Pilots continue to deliver some quality, crunchy guitar tunes. Stone Temple Pilots are scheduled to perform at Innsbrook Pavilion on Wednesday, May 4, at 6 p.m. $22-$100. 423-1775.
