The review of Zed Cafe really fails to give it the justice it deserves (“Pure Intentions,” Food & Drink, Jan. 3). I’ve been to Zed Cafe a few times for lunch, and have never had the horrible experience the reviewer claims to have had. The food has always been fresh and tasty. The people have always been pleasant.
On a gluten-free diet, I’ve expressed my concerns about added ingredients, and the staff has been very understanding and helpful. All their salad dressings are gluten-free, and the chef is very open to modifying meals on their menu to accommodate specific dietary needs. They turned a panini into a salad for me the last time I was there.
As for the adjoining organic hair salon, no unpleasant odors have ever wafted past my nose while dining in the cafe — even while sitting up front by the windows.
I recommend Zed’s wild Alaskan salmon burger with avocado dressing, with mixed greens and chili lime vinaigrette. Hopefully, Style readers will make their decisions based on their own experiences.
