Shamrock the Block: The big green block party is back on the Boulevard from Leigh Street by Movieland to Broad Street, with local and regional food plus live music featuring Jackass Flats and Totally Random, a Totally ’80s Party Band. ‘Cause nothing says Irish holiday like a rocking “Separate Ways” by Journey. Pets and kids allowed. Rain or shine. Free. ATMs on-site. Noon to 6 p.m.

St. Patty’s Day at Ardent Craft Ales (Scott’s Addition): Break away from the stumbling throngs for something a little more intimate and cozy, hosted by Hungry Hungry Arrow. Oh, and plenty great beer. Noon to 8 p.m.

St. Patrick’s Day at the Circuit (Scott’s Addition): Wait, you don’t just like to drink on this holiday? You say you want to rock out on toys? Join a Guitar Hero tournament at the city’s hopping arcade bar. It’s also featuring electronic and video-game inspired music by Fing3rs, 8-bit Mullet and Don Chirashi. Cheers, Professor Falken! 1 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Rosie’s St. Patrick’s Day Back Lot Party at Rosie Connolly’s Pub: Looking for an authentic Irish bar? You’ll want a head downtown for a whole lotta Rosie’s Guinness and Jameson, people. Plus live music from the Cary Street Ramblers, Andy Cleveland and Glenn Sutor, the Greater Richmond Pipes and Drums and the Metro Richmond Police Emerald Society Pipes and Drums. And Irish dancing performed by the Baffa Academy of Irish Dance. 10 a.m. onward.

St. Patrick’s Day Lot Party at District 5: Third annual party at held by District 5 at 1911 W. Main St. features those good-time yacht-rock floggers, Three Sheets to the Wind, starting at 6 p.m. outside (plus three deejays spinning inside). Doors open at 11 a.m.
