Called the Putney Swope of jazz movies by The New York Times, this 1974 film by John Coney featuring legendary Afro-futurist jazz composer and musician Sun Ra, was based in part on his lectures at the University of California Berkeley dealing with music as a force for changing people’s consciousness. Like Ra’s interstellar music, it’s weird and moving, while providing a window into the art of a highly inspired creative force. 7:15 to 9:15 p.m.
