Tomaz Salamun at the University of Richmond

Slovenia’s most well-known living poet, Salamun has become an influential wordsmith in Europe and the United States due to translations of many of his most popular books — he’s written more than 30 — and his time as cultural attaché to the Slovenian embassy in the states. Another cultural exporter, Jamaican scholar and poet Morris has carried the message of Caribbean literature around the world, including dub poetry, born from the riddims of reggae. He reads from his own work April 13 at the Brown Alley Room at 4 p.m. Free. 700-1662.

Liam Callanan at VMFA
