Order extra invitations and even more envelopes. You’ll want some for keepsakes, need some for mistakes and absolutely kill for some for those last minute invitees or forgotten relatives.
Build in some extra time. If you thought it took time to select and order your invitations, prepare yourself because that’s not the end of it. Stuffing, addressing and getting your invitations ready for the mail and getting them sent can be time consuming. Allow yourself at least one week more than you think it will take.
Get the outer envelopes delivered in advance so that you can address them while you are waiting for the invitations to come back from the printer.
Save time and pen ink by having your return address engraved or printed on the back flap of the envelope.
Mail one invitation to yourself. That way, you will know when guests should be receiving theirs.
Know the postage rates. You might think your invite takes a regular stamp. But you might be wrong. Picture opening your mailbox to find every single invitation stamped across the front, “returned for postage due.” Instead of that nightmare, simply visit the post office with one complete invitation (envelopes, reply card, maps, directions, all enclosures) and ask to have them determine the exact postage needed.
Go to the post office to drop off your invitations. Avoid tempting fate by leaving a box of invitations for your mail carrier or dropping them off at a corner box.
