Sick Puppies at the Richmond Raceway Complex

Saturday, April 16

While their uncuddly name won’t exactly win over many members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Australian rock band Sick Puppies introduced themselves to U.S. listeners with a multitude of hugs, turning the first clips of their friend Juan Mann — famous for initiating the Free Hugs Campaign — into a music video for their song “All the Same.” The video has received more than 67.2 million hits on YouTube. With their angst-laden, post-grunge sound finding an audience with their sophomore album “Dressed Up as Life,” the Aussie trio is prepping for the release of its full-length “Tri-Polar,” riding the success of its single “Maybe.” Sick Puppies can be seen and heard with a number of other bands playing Saturday, April 16, during the 102.1 the X Chili Cook-Off at the Richmond International Raceway. The event takes place from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. $25. 228-7500.
