Ship Sale: The Annabel Lee

Richmond’s former paddleboat river attraction the Annabel Lee is again for sale.

Trade publication advertisements for the ship, which went north to Washington in 2004, have it listed as “turnkey and ready to go” for $1.35 million.

Once owned by Norfolk-based Spirit Cruises LLC, the Annabel Lee was bought in May by Capt. JP Cruise Line, based in Troy, N.Y.

“We didn’t use it at all,” says Jennifer Sheeran, an official with the company. “We bought it to fix it up and sell it.”

The boat is on its way to Ft. Myers, Fla., where Sheeran said it will wait out the winter. The company owns a sister ship of the Annabel Lee and uses it as a cruise ship in Ft. Myers.

The company so far has received “a half-dozen serious” inquiries about buying the boat, Sheeran says, but far more calls from parties who may not have known what exactly they were inquiring about.

“We’ve had people call saying they want to use it as a houseboat,” she says. “I think it’d be a really big houseboat.” S
