Where to go. What to hear.

Lucero at Alley KatzThis show probably isn’t going to creep up on anyone, because Lucero’s fans are pretty loyal and good at keeping up with the movements of the somewhat sinister, somewhat sensitive Tennessee foursome, whose newest album, “Rebels, Rogues & Sworn Brothers,” continues a fine tradition of heartbreak and gravel. Lucero plays Wednesday, Nov. 15, with Rocky Votolato, Drag the River Trio and Mason Dixon Disaster, 6-11 p.m. $10. 643-2816.

Kool DJ Red Alert at ManhattansNot so many hip-hop artists get to be honorary ambassadors to the United Nations for their musical contributions. Kool DJ Red Alert has earned his U.N. T-shirt, though: He’s one of the first to introduce hip-hop to the world, growing up in Harlem and spinning for hip-hop pioneers Bambaata and Zulu Nation. He broadcast hip-hop’s first steps on mainstream radio, and for his efforts, Rolling Stone called him one of music’s 50 most influential people. He’s coming to Manhattans to receive the accolades of those who followed the turntable revolution Saturday, Nov. 18, at 9:30 p.m., with performances by The Jungle Brothers, Screechy Dan and others. $25. 239-7579.

T.I. at the Richmond ColiseumPlatinum-selling Atlanta rapper T.I. can climb to the No. 7 position on the Billboard charts and win all the MTV and VIBE awards they care to throw at him, but the real success, it seems, is in the 3 million cell phones that carry “U Don’t Know Me” as a ring-tone, a tribute to his skill at putting together an addictive beat. Even if it is coming out of your pants. He plays Sunday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. with Young Buck of G-Unit, T-Pain, Young Dro, DJ Unk, TEF-XL, Shay and Dukwon. $29.50-$43.50. Fight the Big Bull at Cous CousWait — that came out wrong. The Mediterranean place has no bulls for sparring; instead, every other Wednesday at 10 p.m., you can find yourself amid a whole big-band experience: the unpredictability of improvisational jazz and a very tasty pear dessert. Free. 358-0868. S
