Since its formation in 2005, Richmond's Searching for Timothy has steadily established a commercially viable rock act whose knack for stylish guitar hooks and harmonized vocals would appeal to fans of Academy Is or Fall Out Boy. Recently voted best local band for the second time by the area's two most prominent alternative-rock stations, the hard-working ensemble continues to develop its fan base with a relentless touring schedule as it continues work on the next full-length album. Searching for Timothy headlines the Canal Club with Sugar Glyder, Against Grace, Sovatone and Before the Machine on Saturday, Aug. 8. Doors open at 6 p.m. $8-$10. 643-2582. — Mike Hilleary
