Originally released in the U.S. on March 15, 1956, this pioneering sci-fi classic follows the crew of the Starship C57D and its journey to planet Altair 4 in search of a missing spaceship. Groundbreaking at the time, it showcased a number of firsts: first to use an entirely electronic music score, to depict spaceship traveling faster than light, to be set on a foreign planet, and Robby the Robot was first robot on film to be given human qualities. Plus it’s got a young Leslie Nielsen (“Naked Gun”). 7:15 p.m. $5. byrdtheatre.org.
