Robyn Ludwick at Ashland Coffee and Tea

Friday, Aug. 30. 8 p.m.

Full of vigor and vitality, Robyn Ludwick makes ballsy music. If you had to fight this Luckenbach, Texas, native’s brand of no-nonsense Americana, chances are you’d get your ass kicked. Her impressive 2011 release, “Out of These Blues” is full of John Prine plaintive prose. With a battle-weary voice, she can convey a scarred tenderness that cuts to the bone. It isn’t all world-weariness either; with a backing band that includes multi-instrumentalist Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams, Blaze Foley) and Ian “Mac” MacLagan (Small Faces, Faces, Rolling Stones), each playing to her expressive strengths, Ludwick kicks against the pricks with the best of them on organ-driven gems “Steady” and “Hollywood.” She brings her rockin’ brand of vintage country to Ashland Coffee and Tea on Friday, Aug. 30. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 the day of show. ashlandcoffeeandtea.com.
