Re: “OPINION: Love Wins

Richmondman, do you understand that cases have not reached the courts and media because there is not law in place to begin with? The fact is, your boss can sit you down and tell you your are fired because they heard you are gay.

Re: “No Context Needed

Kids can learn history from the classroom. Honoring those who fought to keep blacks as slaves does not hold them accountable. I'm white, born and raised here and had ancestors who fought in both the civil and revolutionary wars. It had never occurred to me until my 30s that these handsome statues were taunting the black people who viewed them. If I were black, I would have made it my hobby to deface and destroy these losers.

Re: “OPINION: Ongoing Problems

I'm confused by this article being called "Opinion:" rather than reporting? I hope that this will be taken seriously as I do believe the city needs more scrutiny as to how tax dollars are spent.

Re: “OPINION: Right Project, Right Time

Let's get started! Interest rates are low and this will help keep the momentum that is already going on downtown.

Re: “A Mezcal Moment

Just walking by this place left me feeling like I was missing out on nothing. The article just confirms it. I'm confounded by the mediocrity of some restaurants these days. Do these people ever travel, eat out at other restaurants or have a Pinterest account?

Re: “American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia‚Äôs 50th anniversary Celebration with activist Shaun King at ICA

Are you suggesting that only one organization at a time can work to ensure civill liberties on this country? You offer no specifics or alternatives.

What does even mean to be "more free" before 1990 as you ask? Do gay people have the freedom to marry? Do racial minorities have equal rights? Do women have the right to terminate a pregnancy? The ACLU is just one of many organizations who made those freedoms possible. The president and the Republican Party work to undermine this freedoms every day. You don't have to put all of your eggs in one basket to support civil rights.
