TANSTAAFL - There is such a thing as a free lunch. The meals tax increase was enacted to provide funds for CenterStage. CenterStage received at least $75 million in taxpayer money and still receives annual payments from the city: just this year the City will provide CenterStage with $750,000 to make up for shortfalls in their revenue.

But we don't have any idea what the revenues are or what the costs are - the books are not available to the public even though CenterStage is funded by the public. This is what happens when public money funds private ventures. Someone got a free lunch, and they ate well.
