Grocery news, again: Kroger announced that for its Chesterfield store at 10800 Iron Bridge Road, online ordering would be available with curbside pickup for a $4.95 fee, starting next month. The idea is to expand the service to all stores in the Richmond area by the end of the year. kroger.com. Quick reminder: Relay Foods already does this. Pickup is free at one of its 33 weekly locations, and it delivers to your home for a fee of $12-$15. relayfoods.com.

New guy: Johnson and Wales graduate Todd Hicks joined the kitchen at Patina Restaurant & Bar as executive chef and is planning a new winter menu. patinarva.com.

Opening and expanding: Roaring Pines, an old-timey-style general store with a name that makes me think it could be a shop in “Twin Peaks,” is now open at 2025 Venable St. Folks are raving about handmade sodas made with a bevy of unusual flavors, including spruce. roaringpines.com. … Triple Crossing Brewing purchased a 30,000-square-foot building on 4 acres at 5203 Hatcher St., just off Williamsburg Road, and plans to move there at the end of the year.
