Why should management of a city be focused on profit-maximization? The well-being of the public shouldn't be at the mercy of the market; the security of the citizenry is far more important than the expectations of shareholders or executives seeking bonuses or short-term gain.

In a 1996 article titled, "A Country Is Not A Company," in Harvard Business Review, the Economics Nobel Laureate Paul Krugman wrote, "What people learn from running a business won't help them formulate [sound] economic policy." (You can read the piece here:…)
